HELLO SUNSHINE

Linda's cards  ©Stampin' Up!

HELLO SUNSHINE is a perfect sentiment for so many cards, but it is not the one my friend Linda and I chose from the February Paper Pumpkin kit we played with today.  The kit itself contained every thing we needed to make 3 full-sized cards each of 3 designs.

Trish's cards ©Stampin' Up!

There are lots of posts floating around about the kit itself, but my post today is about what we created from the leftovers. We created our own background mat using kit stamps and Pear Pizzazz, Pool Party, Calypso Coral, and Blackberry Bliss ink pads on Whisper White card stock, layering onto either Pool Party or Pear Pizzazz card bases.  We enjoyed doing the kit cards, but these cards had both of us doing our our happy dance and looking forward to what awaits us in our March kits!

Sponging tone-on-tone (here Baked Brown Sugar ink and card stock) adds depth brings out the richness of the "wood".  Don't have any of the *retired colors? How about swapping in with Soft Suede/ Crumb Cake+ So Saffron/ Hello Honey? Or any other combination of wood tones. The possibilities are endless.

Fun with Friends

I love getting together with friends for a night of open crafting.  Last week proved to be no exception.  Five  of my hostess club members came for a "freebie" night to work on personal projects.

Deb has volunteered to create wedding shower invitations for a friend.  The theme is "To the moon and back" with silver and navy for her colors.   Deb fashioned the dress following a tutorial she found online.  From there we developed a card sketch and the details just seemed to fall in place.  All present declared it a success!

Linda needed a card for a guy friend who is a football fan.  Pulling out a retired set from long ago and suggesting a possible card sketch was all she needed, and Linda was on her way to making her own work of art!

Meanwhile Pat worked on Christmas cards (!), Karen put the Big Shot to good use, Teresa shared some of the cards she's been working on.

All to soon the evening came to a close (the time just flew by!).  We all had such a good relaxed time with each other, we are going to do a similar get-together on the 5th Friday of March.

And THAT is why I am a Stampin' Up! demonstrator.  I love our products and think they are the best in the industry, hands-down.  I enjoy the financial benefits as well.  But it is the relationships that have developed as a result of signing up 6 years ago that are most precious to me.  I love each of my ladies, and thank the Lord for bringing them into my life.

GLITTERED GREETINGS

Hello, Everyone!  Welcome back.  Hope you had a wonderful weekend.  We spent Saturday morning doing Spring yard clean-up as the weather was beautiful, reaching a high of 80.  Sunday brought temps down to the low 40's with severe thunderstorms turning to snow in the overnight.  Driving early this morning was a bit dicey at times; but by God's grace, we both made it to work safely.

Lou and I always look forward to the arrival of My Paper Pumpkin.  We each have a subscription to this terrific kit of the month offered by Stampin' Up!  The March kit was exceptional in quality and value.

In each box, we received:

1 photopolymer stamp set, 8 printed designer paper cards, 8 A-2 envelopes, 8 gold foil envelope liners, 2 sheets of glitter self-adhesive dots, 8 woodcut accent greetings, 1 sheet of mini glue dots.

Today, a couple of cards using just the elements of the kit:

Fold the card stock, stamp the Calypso Coral band, adhere the glittered dots, adhere the wood 'thank you' accent, and you are done! Wasn't that easy?   I am crazy about those gold foil envelope liners.

The 2nd share for today takes it up a notch:

This time, we stamped with Island Indigo,  and colored the 'congrats' by tapping the Calypso Coral ink pad directly only the woodcut accent. Finish as above.

All 8 cards in the kit can be completed just as easily and quickly as that.  Or you can use your kit as a launch pad for creating you own unique take.  Come back next time to see some of the designs fashioned at our monthly Paper Pumpkin Pals Play Date for the Glittered Greetings kit.

If you would like more information about My Paper Pumpkin or to subscribe, visit MY PAPER PUMPKIN website;  when asked, be sure to name me as your demonstrator.   If you live locally email me at HERE for details about our free monthly Paper Pumpkin Pals Play Date.

Happy Monday!  Happy Stampin'!

WHALE, WHALE

One of the cutest stamp sets in Stampin' Up!'s Spring Catalog is the "Oh, Whale".  Its punny expressions make it a great go-to set for newcomers to the neighborhood ("Whalecome!"), under the weather ("Get whale soon."), Valentine 's Day ("Whale you be mine?") and gratitude ("Thanks a ton!")

It is also great for baby cards.
Cute, huh?
One of things I enjoy about Stampin' Up! is the availability of products designed to work together to make crafting cards easy and fun. A Big Shot and the Happy Whale Clearlits™  die make cutting out the whale, spray and fish a breeze.  The background in the bottom card is a bit of Sunshine &Sprinkles designer series paper.

Other supplies and tools needed to make these 3 cards:
stamps:  Sweet Essentials, Cuddles & Kisses (inside wording)
card stock:  Pretty in Pink, Bashful Blue Pacific Point, Marina Mist, Whisper White
classic ink pads:  Pretty in Pink, Melon Mambo, Bashful Blue, Midnight Muse, Pacific Point Basic Gray
tools etc. :  Cloudy Day embossing folder, 1" Circle punch, Basic Black marker, stampin' dimensionals

Hope you have a whale of a good day!

PEEK - a - BOO!

Hi Stampers!

One of games my kids enjoyed was "Peek-a- Boo".  The look of pure joy on discovering the face behind the hands was such a delight to this mom.

Most of us still enjoy those unexpected little discoveries.  The Peek-A-Boo Frames die helps create fun cards with hidden little messages, like the one below.

Lift the little window to reveal a small picture or sentiment.

Fun to make; fun to receive.

Colors used here:  Gumball Green, Daffodil Delight, Midnight Muse, Whisper White, Real Red

Have a wonderful day, and make time to create.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hi Stampers,
I know that I am a few days late, but I do hope your 2013 is off to a great start.

Though I never get tired of making Christmas cards, it is time to move on to other things.  My club meets next Friday, so I have been working on lots of card ideas.  Sometimes it is hard to decide just what I most want to do.  So many ideas, so little time :o)

I love this design with its contrasts of color and texture.  My Big Shot made it easy and fast.

Sending the Whisper White card front through the Big Shot using the Lacy Brocade embossing folder (127819) gives it such a touch of elegance.  The red mat was cut from Real Red core'dinations card stock (new - 129320) using a die from our Apothecary Accents framelits set (127003), embossed with Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder (117335), then lightly sanded with our Stampin' Sanding Block  (129367).

For the sentiment tag Occasions Alphabet (123598) in Real Red classic ink (126949) on a scrap of Whisper White card stock (100730) and cutting out with the Large Oval Punch (119855); layer onto Brushed Gold card stock (102935) shape-cut suing the another Apothecary Accents framelit.  Mount using Stampin' Dimensionals (104430).

The Spring catalog is now available.  You can check out all the great new products at MY WEBSITE. Just click on SHOP NOW.  This is Stampin' Up!'s 25th Anniversary year; so be on the look out for lots of great products, promotions and crafting ideas.  Don't have a catalog yet?  Contact me, and I will make sure you get one.

BRIGHT RETRO BIRTHDAY

Birthday cards are always in demand, and I am always happy to find one that is quick and easy, colorful, and suitable for all ages and both genders.

I am really blessed to have so many stamps in my collection to choose from, both current and retired. Usually I post from my current sets, but today's is a throw back to a set I really enjoy using.

A few years back, Stampin' Up! brought out the Little Layers stamp set of spring and outline images of a kite, fish, flower and ladybud along with 4 background stamps.  In the Little Layers II set were holiday images of pumpkin, acorn, snowflake and ornament and 4 more background stamps.  To round out the collection, they also made available a hostess set, Little Layers Plus, which included a mortar board, heart, gift package, flower, pacifier and the cupcake used above, plus 2 more backgrounds.  Wow!  with a collection like that and an easy layout like the one shown here, you could make cards for every just about every occasion all year long.  If you have a copy of the 2004-2005 Idea Book & Catalog, you can see all 3 sets, then be on the look out for them at thrift shops, garage sales, etc.

Thanks for stopping by.

May all your days be bright and cheery.

MASKED CHRISTMAS

Hi Stampers!
Masking is a technique that I really enjoy.  It is easy to do and can make for stunning effects.

To create this card, you will need:
card stock:  Pacific Point, 4-1/4" x 11", scored at 5-1/2"
                   Whisper White, 4" x 5-1/4", cut 3
stamp set:   Come to Bethlehem
inks:            Pacific Point, Marina Mist, Stazon Black
tools:           Apothecary framelits, Big Shot, stampin' sponges
extras:         Rhinestone Jewel, Snail adhesive

To create the front mat:
1.  Cut the mask out of 1 piece of Whisper White using the framelit and the Big Shot.
You will need the piece with the "window" hole for step 2.
2.  Stack the mask onto a second piece of Whisper White, making sure that all the edges line up.
3.  Sponge inside the "window" using Marina Mist, followed by Pacific Point.
4.  Keeping mask in place, stamp image using Stazon Black.
5.  Remove mask.
6.  Stamp sentiment.

Finish the card:
1.  Stamp inside sentiment on last piece of Whisper White CS.
2.  Assemble card using Snail adhesive
3.  Add a Rhinestone Jewel to the star for a bit of sparkle.

Here's the same card, but using the Lovely As A Tree stamp set:

Whatever your day brings, take time to have some fun.

Thanks for stopping by.
