OH, HELLO

Saturday is a perfect time to spend a little time in the craft room.  But who wants to spend the whole day indoors when the weather is beautiful.  The solution is a quick and easy card, perhaps like this one:

To make this card, you will need:  Oh, Hello stamp set; Soft Suede and Whisper White card stock; Smoky Slate, Whisper White and Cherry Cobbler ink pads; Daffodil Delight and Gumball Green markers; Simply Scored and Simply Scored Borders Plate; Ovals framelits and Big Shot; Linen Thread; Sponge Dauber; Two-Way Glue; Stampin' Dimensionals
Hints:
*Dry emboss the zigzags using the Simply Scored and Borders Plate;  rub white ink over the embossed area using the sponge dauber.

*Stamp in this order:  chevron oval, then greeting; then flower inked using markers.  Then cut out oval using the framelit.

* When using markers on the stamp itself, remoisten before stamping onto card stock by breathing (huffing) onto the stamp.

Here's what I did with the inside using some Retro Fresh This and That washi tape:

Greeting is from the Sassy Salutations set.

That's it for today.  Have a great weekend!  See you next time,
Trish

BOLD BIRTHDAY

 It's throwback Thursday!

With just 2 stamps (sorry, one is retired -- but I will suggest some others currently available that will work as well)  and a few markers, you can quickly create visual treats in just a matter of minutes.

Choose a chunky or bold font for the greeting.  This one is from A Little Birthday Cheer set (2001, yes - vintage is good!), but you could also do this with stamps from Big Wish (Occasions, 2014);
Make a Wish set and You're Amazing set (2013-2014 Annual Catalog) or any number of stamps you have from years gone by in your tool kit.  Ink up the greeting with a single color - here Melon Mambo.

The candle is from Create a Cupcake (current).  Ink up using a rainbow of colors, using either ink pads or markers.  Here I used Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Marina Mist, Wisteria Wonder, Gumball Green.

Just a tiny bit of bling -- a Rhinestone Jewel to dot the "i" and you are all done.

Hope your day is as happy as happy gets!

Trish

HELLO THERE

Happy Saturday!  Hope your day has been filled with sunshine.

At our house, we have begun our annual spring decluttering.  Today's room was the laundry.  It's a good-sized, unfinished room with some great open storage shelves, but all that spaciousness can quickly become the "temporary" home for way too much stuff.  Things donated to the Goodwill are already out the door; another box for donations to our church, and some things reserved for our garage sale in June.  It's a start and I will be so glad when it is all done.

Now for today's card:  another clean and simple, easy-peasy but -oh-so-nice little card, suitable for all kinds of occasions.

Once again, used Note Cards & Envelopes.  In addition:  Happy Day and Hello, Lovely stamp sets;
Midnight Muse, Baked Brown Sugar, Soft Suede, Coastal Cabana, Soft Sky, Raspberry Ripple, and Summer Starfruit.  Mix and match colors and patterns to your heart's content to create a wide variety of cards that reflect your personality.

Tomorrow is Sunday, our day of rest.  We will be worshipping the Lord Jesus with our church family.  Wishing you and yours a joyful weekend.

Stamping with love,
Trish

SWEET DEALS from TRISH and PAPER PUMPKIN

I know, I know.  I have already talked about Paper Pumpkin several times and you are probably thinking:  enough already.  I totally understand.  But I also know that you are always on the lookout for a really good deal -- one that gets you great crafting supplies and saves you money to boot.  Me, too!

Only a few days remain in the Paper Pumpkin Summer Promotion (plus stay tuned for the announcement of Trish's sweet deal)

Sign up no later than August 31 using the promo code "PUMPKINDEAL"  and get your first 2 months for only $10 per month (plus tax). Normally these crafting kits, delivered right to your door around the 18th of the month, sell for $14.95 (plus $5 postage and tax).  Sweet!

Keep reading to find out about Trish's sweet deal!

So what should you expect in a box? Your first box will be the Welcome Kit, containing 1 D-size clear block* (retails for $8.50), stamps, ink, and elements precut and ready for you to create 4 cute greeting cards like the one shown here.  Make them all the same or be adventurous and add elements from your stash to make some one of a kind creations you are sure to love.  You're in charge.

In the months that follow, the contents of your kit are kept secret until they arrive in your mailbox.  My husband can't wait to open his the minute it arrives so he can dive right in and get creating!  One month, it was a small scrapbook, another little banners that could be used as cake toppers, or to adorn a scrapbook page or cards. You just never know what you will find inside, that's half the fun!

And yes there have been more cards too!  Like this month's called Pedal Praise. Cute, cute, cute bicycle!  And I love that little thank you stamp!  I just know that it will see a lot of use.

"But Trish, we want to hear about your sweet deal."

Patience, my friends.
You need to know that there are no long-term commitments. Opt out of any month you don't wish to receive by logging in to your account before the 10th of the month and change the number you are ordering to "0".

So don't miss out.  Sign up now, and your Welcome kit will arrive around October 18.  Let the fun begin!

OK.  You have waited long enough.  It's to reveal my added bit of sugar.

Here's what I am going to do to make the deal even sweeter:  I am throwing in free classes for all customers who sign up for My Paper Pumpkin, naming me (Trish Hernandez) as their demonstrator. Each month, we will make the projects together, then explore other ways the supplies and tools could be used to create other fun cards and crafts.  You get a free class for each Paper Pumpkin you buy.

So what's not to love?

Don't miss out.  Why not hop right on over to MY PAPER PUMPKIN and sign up right now. Be sure to use the promo code "PUMPKINDEAL" and designate me as your demonstrator.

Then I will shoot you an email with details about your free classes.  Wait.  What if you are not in my local area?  No problem.  I will email you pictures, tips and more specific to that month's kit. Like a class in your in-box.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today.
Happy stampin'!

Trish

*Use the "D"clear block for all the stamps you will receive in each month's kit.

APRIL CLUB CARDS

I do so love getting together with the gals in my stamping club.  We call it "Cheaper than Therapy".  And it really is!  In addition to getting to make great cards and test out new products, it's the friend connection that we value the most.  Many of us did not know each other before this club formed; but our stamping experiences are drawn us close and we can't think of any place else we would rather be on the second Friday of the month.

Here are the cards we made last night:

This sweet little bunny was done up with a variety of punches.  Can you identify which ones?  The expression is from Sweet Essentials set; the background is from the Brights DSP pack.

Swallowtail is a single stamp set that really fills the bill for something stunning.  The ladies learned how to make hybrid embossing powder to create both color and sparkle (my photo doesn't show this well at all, but in reality the image is a glittery delight!)  Here's how you do it:  in a small container, mix equal parts of colored embossing powder -here Pool Party was used - with Iridescent Ice embossing powder.  Stamp the image with Versamark ink, then sprinkle on the hybrid mix, hit it with the heat tool to melt and VOILA! Beautiful.
Just for fun, we made this single layer, clean and simple card using the banner image from new Designer Typeset photopolymer stamp set.  Wow! these new stamps are the bomb!  Super stick quality keeps them tight on the clear mount, through all your stamping and cleaning.  I am sold!  The colors on this cards are just so happy, I can't help but smile when I see them together:  Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Lucky Limeade, Island Indigo.  The sentiment is from the You're Amazing set.

Visit my website to order these and other great products.  If you are interested in forming a club, contact me and let's see what we can work up.

Happy stampin' -- happy weekend!

BY THE TIDE

Here in the Midwest, like much of the country, we are in the midst of a massive winter storm; another is expected in just a few days; with a possible 3rd one on its heels. Schools closed, businesses are letting people go home early, and so we hunker down to weather it out. (pun intended!)

Meanwhile it is a perfect time to whip up some hot cocoa and spend a little time downstairs in the craft room.  Today's card looks forward to the milder conditions of June and Father's Day.

It's a pretty straight-forward card, nice and easy, so I will just list the supplies I used:

stamps:  By the Tide, Teeny Tiny Wishes
ink:  Basic Gray
cs:  Very Vanilla, Basic Black
etc:  1-1/4" & 1-3/8" square punches, Stampin' Dimensionals, Snail adhesive

Time to check what on what's happening outside and get some more cocoa.

Keep warm and keep on stamping!

FEELING SENTIMENTAL

"Feeling Sentimental" is one of those stamp sets I just can't seem to get enough of.  It is so easy to use with a variety of techniques, for a wide array of occasions.  Couple it with any of our sentiment stamps, and you are good to go.

Today's card goes together quickly. Pool Party + Basic Black + Very Vanilla = the perfect combination for a "guy" card. "First Edition Specialty" designer series paper adds just the right background for the bicycle image, which is given a boost with Stampin' Dimensionals in each corner. And silver brads in the spokes add just the right bling that no guy would object to.  Sentiment is from "Vintage Verses", another set that will become part of my permanent collection.

My friend and fellow demonstrator, Mary Lou Kleveland,  gets credit for her original design, which inspired the above card.

Both stamp sets used in this card came from our annual Sale-a-bration brochure.  We all enjoy getting something free.  During Sale-a-bration, not just hostesses, but every customer can receive FREE Stampin' Up! products.  Here's how:  for every $50 of product ordered (before shipping and tax), you get to choose one of 17 stamp sets, paper packs, embellishments, card kits, or digital software featured in the Sale-a-bration brochure.  What could be easier?

As you would suspect, this offer is good for a limited time -- in fact, Friday March 22 is the last day of thi promotion.  Visit my website for further details.

Happy stampin',

SECRET GARDEN blended

New techniques are something I enjoy learning, especially if I don't have to buy new supplies.
This card is my first attempt at what I call "blended markers".  Now if you have ever tried to work with markers on card stock, you know that the ink penetrates the paper before you can move it around, lighten it up, or blend it with another color, and can cause the fibers to separate and peel.  And the colors just don't pop.  This technique fixes that.

Using Whisper White craft ink and embossing powder, I stamped and heat embossed the flowers from the Secret Garden set.  Then I filled in with a  wash of Whisper White ink using my Aqua Painter, and let dry completely.

Using Stampin' Write markers, I added color around the center of each flower, using my Blender Pen to spread and blend the color out to the edge of each petal. On some two marker colors were used and blended into each other.

Stamped leaves from the same set finish off the look.  And did you notice the sentiment?  It's from the Vintage Verses set, one of the products you can get for FREE during our Sale-a-bration event going on through March 22.  Check my website for detail.

Here's another example of the same technique, using the sentiment from the Fabulous Florets set:

I just love the look and feel of these cards.
I hope you will give "blended marker technique" a try.  Not sure you want to go it alone?  Send me a response to this post, and we can set up a $10 class for you.

May your day be filled with color!

SHARING the LOVE

I know, I know, Valentine's Day was last week, but is there ever a day we don't need love?  Perish the thought.

My sweet and thoughtful husband went out of his way to make it a very special day for us.  He presented me with a giant specialty chocolate chip cookie (so big we are still nibbling our way through it!) and some lovely scented candle sprinkles for the melting pot.  He made reservations at an Italian restaurant - the one we ate at when we first moved back to my hometown 13 years ago! AND most special of all, he made me a card of his own design.

Am I pampered or what?!?

Here's what he used:
card stock:  Real Red, Melon Mambo, Basic Black
tools:  Hearts Collection framelits, Big Shot, cutting mats, platform; paper snips
etc:  stampin' dimensionals to attach each layer.

Love it!

Trish

...and they call it PUPPY LOVE

It is amazing what can be created using card stock and punches and dies!  When I saw the original designed by Mary Jo Price-Williams, I just knew I had to make one too.

To make this cute "puppy love" card, you will need:
card stock:  Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Bashful Blue, Basic black, Real Red
punches:  XL Oval, Small Oval, 1/2" Circle
dies:   Hearts framelits
etc:  Big Shot, Crumb Cake ink and marker, Signo White Gel pen stampin' sponge, adhesive

Helpful Hint:  To create a folded card, be sure your place the top edge of the scalloped heart die just outside your folded Crumb Cake card base.

Using our Hearts framelits and the Big Shot made cutting out all the heart shapes a breeze!

Happy stampin'!

HEARTS A FLUTTER BANNER CARD

Cool blue Pool Party is a wonderful color for men, women, teens, and kids.  It's one of my favorites, and I will be sorry to see it leave Stampin' Up!'s color palette at the end of May.  So let's enjoy it all the more while we can :o)

Today's card could be used for such a wide variety of occasions:  birthday, anniversary, wedding, valentine, get well, I'm thinking of you, or "even no particular reason but I just wanted to make you something special".

Run a panel through the Big Shot using the Honeycomb embossing folder, then lightly smooth the Whisper White craft ink pad over the raised surface to highlight the texture, a perfect backdrop to the hearts and other banner shapes.

Other supplies you will need:
stamps:  Heart A Flutter, Made For You; inks: Pool Party, Pink Pirouette, Primrose Petals, Basic Gray; tools:   Hearts A Flutter framelits, paper snips; etc:  White Baker's Twine, stampin' dimensionals

BRIGHT BLOSSOMS 3 x 3

It's the little things that can mean so much.  A smile.  A hug.  A phone call.

Today's share is just a little something to let someone know you care, a fun little card that should brighten anyone's day.

The Bright Blossoms and Ciao, Baby stamp sets make this little card just as cute as can be.
The Happy Day tag is popped up on a dimensional and acts as a latch to keep the card closed.

Gently release to reveal the inside with room for your personal note.
Then slip it into your embellished envelope, ready to bring a smile to the recipient's face.

The Petite Curly Label punch used for the sentiment "latch" will be available during Sale-a-bration, Jan 22- Mar 22.  Contact me to learn how you can get one free!
