Painter's Tape Technique

Quick, easy.  And only a few supplies are needed to make a very attractive card

Serene Silhouettes © Stampin' Up!
Don't you just love those splashes of color?  So easy to achieve with your favorite inks and PAINTER'S TAPE!

Here's all you do:  Tear off a strip of tape, lay it across your ink pad to pick up some of the color, then lay tap onto your card stock pressing down a bit especially with really light colors.

If the color saturation is too light, follow the same procedure over and over again until the color is as dark as you would like.

The same piece of tape can be used for multiple applications of the same color, but be sure to use a fresh strip when changing colors.

To make this card you will need:
stamp sets:  Serene Silhouettes, Blessings from Heaven
card stock:  Whisper White, Crisp Canteloupe
inks:  Crushed Curry, Crisp Canteloupe, Pear Pizzazz; Stazon Jet Black solvent ink pad
other:  Distressing Tool; Snail adhesive; painter's tape (from your local hardware store)

hint:  Masking tape is not a good choice for this technique as is is too tacky and will in most cases tear your card stock when removing from the the card front.

Be sure to give this technique a try.  I love it -- hope you will too!

Keep on stampin'!

more "SIMPLY SKETCHED"

In my last post, I mentioned  how much I simply enjoy using the Simply Sketched set.  Today's card features two more stamps from that box.
Simply Sketched © Stampin' Up!
This time the outline sketch is stamped in Stazon ink to prevent bleeding while I added layers of color using my ink pads and blender pen.The white cardstock circle is also delicately sponged with Pumpkin Pie ink

The Pumpkin Pie mat is given a textured boost using an embossing folder, which coordinates beautifully with that designer series paper (see which one below in list of supplies).

The half doily balances off the card and adds just a touch of gentle delicacy.

The death of a loved one is so hard; in the midst of the grief, a handmade card with an aptly written personal note can do so much to comfort a grieving soul.

Supplies used in this project:
stamps:  Simply Sketched
card stock:  Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie
papers:  Quatrefancy Specialy designer series paper, Tea Lace Paper Doilies
inks:  Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Stazon jet Black
other: Modern Mosaic embossing folder, Big Shot,  2-1/2" Circle punch, Paper Snips, Snail adhesive, Blender Pens

"SIMPLY SKETCHED" birthday card

I make and send out a ton of birthday cards, so having a good versatile layout is not only helfpul but makes my crafting time more productive. Couple a good design with a versatile stamp set, and you are ready to create a wide variety of cards for may different occasions.  One such set is "Simple Sketched".  I love the simplicity of the stamp images as well as the font for the sentiments

While the card would have been beautiful without, I chose to use my ink pads and blender pen to added just a touch of color.  Sponging the card front with So Saffron warms up the Whisper White card stock.

Add texture by dry embossing the Soft Suede mat and heat embossing the Cherry Cobbler strip.
Add a bit of baker's twine and you are done.

Supplies needed for this card:
card stock:  Cherry Cobbler, Soft suede, So Saffron, Whisper White
stamp set:  Simply Sketched (one of the current hostess sets)
inks:  Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, So Saffron, Early Espresso
other:  Cherry Cobbler baker's twine, stampin' sponges, Versamark pad, clear embosssing powder, Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, Big Shot, stampin' dimensionals, Blender Pen

Thanks for visiting my blog today;  you are greatly appreciated.

Stamp on!
