"TREE"mendous Card Techniques class

 These three cards showcase trees using 3 techniques I will be teaching in this weekend's class.

The silhouette card to the left features the Double Embossing technique. Stamp sets used are Scenic Season and Welcome Christmas.

The shimmer and shine are even more dramatic on the actual card.

Our second card features the the Pie Wedge/Fan Fold technique.  What a cute tree to pop on the front of your card or tag!  The sentiment is from the Welcome Christmas set.  Don't you love the bit of bling those Rhinestone Jewels add?

I am sure you noticed the dramatic effect of the Whisper White card stock the focal image is mounted on.  Credit that to our new Snowburst embossing folder.

Our 3rd card highlights a currently popular variation of the Tea Bag Folding technique.  It gives quite a dramatic flair to our otherwise simple card.

Punchy Penguin treat card

Winter is a-coming!  And time to think of little treats to bring pleasure to those we love.  This little cutie is sure to warm the heart of anyone who receives it.  Made mostly with a Top Note die cute and punched pieces, it goes together in a snap.

Start with a 4" x 11" piece of Basic Black card stock, scored at 3/4", 6", 6-1/4".  The Simply Scored tool makes scoring a snap.   Stamp the little flap at the bottom and the large flap with a small snowflake using Whisper White craft ink. The image here  is from the Delightful Decorations.  If you wish also stamp a message on the inside.

Penguin details are created using Basic Black and Pumpkin Pie card stock and 3/4" Circle, Curly Label and Lg Oval punches.  I used the retired Small Oval punch to create the beak, but you could also use a 1" Square or the 3/4" x 15/16 Oval punch to fashion one of a somewhat different shape.  Use Marina Mist 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon to form the perky little bow and attach with a Mini Glue Dot.

When assembling, make sure the feet extend a little below the bottom edge of the upper flap.  They will help keep the card closed.  To finish, slip in a packet of your favorite treat.   Here we used gold fish honey graham cookies, but a packet of hot chocolate would be delightful as well.  Fold up the bottom flap of the card over the sealed edge of the treats packet, and staple in place.

Looks lovely and inviting when slipped into a clear envelope.  I plan to make these for my grandchildren and tuck a gift card inside as well.

Flutter by Butterfly

Hi Stampers!

I love to watch butterflies as they flutter about my wildflower garden.  They always bring a smile to my face and they dance on the wind and kiss each blossom.  Below is one of the cards my Cheaper Than Therapy club ladies will be making this evening. I really like its clean and simple design (CAS).  It's a CASE of one I saw a while back on Facebook but have lost track of the originator's name.  If I locate the name, I will repost at a later date so she gets the credit she deserves.

Though it may be hard to see in this picture, each butterfly was cut and embossed using Stampin' Up!'s esclusive Beautiful Wings embosslit, adding great dimension and texture.  The bottom edge was hand-torn to create the imagery of a horizon.  Rhinestone Jewels add just the right touch of sparkle. Inside a panel of Pool Party, with a butterfly stamped in Versamark, provides a lovely writing area for adding a personal message.

"Card That Move" class

Hi Stampers!

Hope you are keeping cool in this heat wave that has so much of the nation in its grip. The coolest place in my house during the day is the basement - where my craft room is set up.  Lucky me!

Just wanted to give you a sneak peek at the 3 cards you can make if you join my " Cards That Move" class, next Friday evening, July 29, from 7:00-9:30 here at the house.

The cost is a mere $10 and you will receive all materials and supplies*, templates and instruction in how to make never-ending, tri-shutter and penny spinner cards, 3 envelopes, plus a ticket for a future drawing for a Stampin' Up! product.  *To make the class move along within the time frame and to keep down the price, class members are asked to bring their Fiskars style cutting board, bone folder, Snail/other mono adhesive, and scissors (paper snips).  But do not let a lack of any of these keep you from joining us.

Never - Ending Thanks

Busy

Happy Friday, Everyone!

This has been a busy, busy day.  My husband took the day off, so we could spend the day at the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo with our 10 year old grandson Lucas, who is visiting us from Houston.  Using the map, we plotted out the route we would follow in order to take in everything we wanted to see.  It was a lot of walking, and this old body hasn't gotten that kind of workout in a long time; but the cool, cloudy day was ideal for taking in all the outdoor exhibits.

  We arrived at the Sea Lion pool just minutes before trainers came to demonstrate all these marvelous animals can do.  We delighted in seeing them wave hello, jump through hoops, "walk" the edge of the pool, "talk", and gobble down their fishy rewards.  Lucas declared it his favorite thing at the zoo (but he also really liked the walk-through aquarium).

Tonight "Cheaper Than Therapy" hostess club meets here at the house, our last meeting for the current catalog.  Three of our members will not be able to attend; so Lucas and his grandpa have volunteered to make their cards for them.  It is going to be the perfect end to a perfect day.

I am a big believer in using materials I have on hand to make my cards.  So there will often be a mix of old and current in what I do.  Today's card is no exception.  Change up the Designer Series Paper, colors, ribbon or image and you can have a different card for any occasion. I don't live anywhere near water, but sailboats have such an appeal for me.  This new stamp in the Summer Mini Catalog has quickly become my new favorite. This card is CAS (clean and simple).  To make it, you will need:
